Preparing the Next-Generation Workforce: Data Literacy, AI Education, and Design Thinking for STEM Innovation
Data Science Summit
June 22-23 at George Mason University
Free to attend: Grades 7–12 mathematics, science, and computer science teachers; instructional coaches; division specialists; and university faculty who support or plan to teach the Virginia Data Science high school course, as well as educators focused on data literacy and mathematical modeling. Free registration, breakfast and lunch both days, polo shirt, and resources.
Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference
June 25 - June 27 at Virginia State University
This conference is designed to inspire educators and leaders to rethink mathematics education through innovation, equity, and student-centered learning. Featuring keynote speakers Dr. Toya Jones Frank and James O’Neal Jr., the event brings together nationally recognized voices in mathematics education, equity, and instructional leadership.
CodeVA Summer Events

CodeVA is offering a variety of professional learning opportunities for educators throughout the summer. Their mission is to empower educators and all individuals who work with students to confidently integrate and teach computer science, helping expand access to high-quality computer science education for every learner.

Across Region 5, schools, businesses, higher education, workforce partners, community organizations and informal STEM providers are doing powerful work. The opportunity now is to connect that work into a stronger regional system.
This is not simply a conference. It is a working summit designed to move from ideas → connections → action.
GMU Space Day
September 26th at George Mason University
An engaging afternoon experience offering educators lectures, hands-on STEM activities, planetarium shows, and tours of George Mason University’s Observatory and satellite dish facilities. Featuring a keynote and meet-and-greet with Brigadier General Nick Hague, U.S. Space Force leader and NASA astronaut.

The 2026 Naval Station Norfolk Fleet Fest STEM Days will bring together 4,000 students for two days of hands-on STEM experiences designed to educate, inspire, and connect young learners with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through engaging outdoor exhibits.
